Oil or LPG boiler replaced with an air source heat pump in the West Midlands

Oil and LPG to heat pump — same temporary £9,000 grant

No more tanker deliveries. No more LPG bottles. The outdoor unit is the same air source heat pump we fit on gas homes — and oil and LPG get the same temporary £9,000 Boiler Upgrade Scheme rate, up from the standard £7,500.

Park home or mid-terrace? You may pay £0

The £7,500 grant often covers the whole job on park homes and mid-terrace houses. Check in 30 seconds.

Same heat pump, higher grant rate

£9,000 (up from £7,500) for homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas connection, until 31 March 2027.

Replacing oil or LPG is not a different product line. It is the same MCS-certified air source heat pump, the same heat-loss survey, and the same Ofgem paperwork we use on gas jobs. The difference is the temporary higher BUS rate for those fuels — and the work to take the old oil tank or LPG supply out of the picture.

On oil or LPG?

Oil and LPG get the same temporary £9,000 grant, up from the standard £7,500 till March, 2027.

What happens to the tank

An oil boiler swap usually means draining and decommissioning (or removing) the outdoor tank, then sitting the heat pump on a pad with clear airflow. LPG setups are similar: the bottle or tank supply is isolated and the boiler comes out. Tank removal, groundwork and any electrical upgrade sit as line items on the quote — not a surprise after you have signed.

We agree what happens to the tank on the survey. Some sites keep a decommissioned tank temporarily; others want it gone before handover. Either way it is priced up front.

Who this suits

  • Off-gas houses still on heating oil or LPG in England or Wales
  • Rural bungalows and village semis where the tanker is the expensive part of the year
  • Park homes on oil or LPG — often a straight grant-covered swap; see park home heat pumps
  • You must own the property. If you rent, your landlord would need to apply — we can survey and design the system with their permission

Oil and LPG heat pumps by town

Off-gas pockets around these towns are the strongest oil and LPG cases we see. Oil and LPG get the same temporary £9,000 grant.
