Air source heat pumps in Birmingham — designed, fitted, grant included
Gas, oil or LPG — it is the same heat pump. The standard grant is £7,500; oil and LPG get the same temporary £9,000 rate. Park homes and mid-terrace houses often pay £0 after the grant. We size the system from a heat loss survey and claim the paperwork for you.

How an install actually works
Step 1
Survey
A surveyor walks the house, notes construction, insulation, radiators and a legal position for the outdoor unit. Takes about an hour. No hard sell.
Step 2
Heat loss calculation
Room-by-room calculation to MCS standards — not a rule of thumb from floor area. This is what sizes the pump and tells us which radiators stay.
Step 3
System design
Make, output, cylinder, pipework, controls, and any emitter upgrades. The £7,500 grant is shown as a line on the quote, already deducted.
Step 4
Installation day
Usually two to four days. Old boiler out, heat pump and cylinder in, system commissioned and handed over with a walk-through of the controls.
Step 5
Aftercare
MCS paperwork, manufacturer warranty registration, and a number you can actually ring. We service what we fit.

Running costs vs gas — honestly
A heat pump uses electricity. A modern unit typically delivers around 3 kWh of heat for every 1 kWh of electricity (a COP of about 3, often better in milder weather). Whether that is cheaper than gas depends on your tariff, how well the house holds heat, and how the system is designed. It is not automatically cheaper on day one for every home.
What we will not do is quote a fantasy saving from a national average. On the survey we look at your current bills, insulation and likely flow temperature, and we tell you if the running cost looks similar, a little lower, or not worth it until the fabric is improved. The £7,500 grant is what makes the capital cost work. On a park home or mid-terrace that grant often covers the lot, so you pay £0. For typical installed prices, sample quotes and running-cost figures by property type, see our air source heat pump cost guide.
High-temperature heat pumps have closed the old “you must rip out every radiator” gap. Many 1930s West Midlands semis keep most emitters. We prove that with the heat loss calculation, not a sales script.
Oil and LPG — same job, same £9,000 grant
£9,000 (up from £7,500) for homes heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas connection, until 31 March 2027.
Replacing an oil or LPG boiler is not a different product. It is the same air source heat pump and the same MCS paperwork. The tank comes out; a pad goes down. Park homes on oil are some of the jobs that most often complete at £0.
